As a student of art deco, Pierre embarked upon a journey to Borneo where he had a decisive encounter with the Pumans (nomads of the forest). He realised that through photography he could not only bring stories to life, but above all bear witness to them, with a commitment that was both ethnical and philosophical. His work on the Taw-Batu tribe (Philippines), with whom he stayed on several occasions, won him the Leonardo da Vinci Prize, and was the trigger for a career which was from then on rich in encounters and experiences.
As Founder Member and General Secretary of the Anthropology and Photography Association, he has been dedicated through his work, for over 15 years, to the defence of indigenous people - a testimony whereby the heart and spirit have been intimately linked.
